Sweet Briar College Dance Concerts

and Events 2011-2012

*BFA Concert: Ellen Reid '12, October 13 &14, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday- Black Box Theatre Babcock Fine Arts Center - This concert will be exploring the connections Ellen Reid has made as a studio art major and a dance minor here at SBC. The title of this event is called Such is Life, it references her Grandmother's life.

*Fall Dance Concert, November 11 & 12, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. Friday & Saturday - Murchison Lane Auditorium Babcock Fine Arts Center - SBC faculty and students will combine their talents to explore new choreographic horizons.

*Jump, Rhythm, Jazz Project, December 2, 2011 7:30 p.m. Friday- Murchison Lane Auditorium Babcock Fine Arts Center -This exciting company explores the rhythmical nature of scat singing, body percussion, and tap dancing in an infectious mix of movement and music that grabs the audiences attention.

*Fringe Festival: February 2, 2012 at 7:30PM Thursday-Dance Studio Theatre Babcock Fine Arts Center - Dance will be presenting a concert that will stretch the edge of the envelope with new, exciting works by faculty and students.

*Senior Dance Concert: Cortney Lewandowski '12, February 17 & 18, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. Friday & Saturday- Dance Studio Theatre Babcock Fine Arts Center - Cortney will be using her knowledge that she has gathered during her four years at SBC to give us a unique experience and create a sensational dance concert which will feature a solo using her comic flair.

*Spring Dance Concert April 20 & 21, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. Friday & Saturday Murchison Lane Auditorium Babcock Fine Arts Center – Sweet Briar faculty and students will perform inspired works on a wide range of subjects.

*SBC Children’s Dance Concert May 5, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. Saturday Murchison Lane Auditorium Babcock Fine Arts Center – The after school program for community children taught by Sweet Briar dance majors and directed by Professor Ella Magruder is a visual treat for everyone.
