and Events 2007-2008 *Victoria Marks Performance Company, Not About Iraq, September 13, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. Thursday- Murchison Lane Auditorium Babcock Fine Arts Center - Through a set of poetics only accessible through dance, this piece questions the place of the body in matters of heroics. Two SBC dance majors and a dance professor will be guest dancers in this piece. Several master classes will be held during the company's weeks residency. *Senior Dance Concert: Heather Coley '08, October 12&13, 2007 at 8:00 p.m. Friday & Saturday Dance Studio Theatre Babcock Fine Arts Center - Heather will combine her two majors, dance and religion, in her concert. Some of her works will draw on ideas she has gleaned from her four years of study at Sweet Briar. She will be including live music for one of her dances. *Fall Dance Concert November 9&10, 2007 at 8:00 p.m. Friday & Saturday Murchison Lane Auditorium Babcock Fine Arts Center - SBC faculty and students will combine their talents to explore new choreographic horizons. Live music will also be featured in this concert. *SBC Children’s Dance Concert December 8, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. Saturday Murchison Lane Auditorium Babcock Fine Arts Center – The after school program for community children taught by Sweet Briar dance majors and directed by Professor Ella Magruder is a visual treat for everyone. This concert will use poems of winter as its source of inspiration. *First Annual Fringe Festival January 31- February 3 Babcock Fine Arts Center - Dance, music and theatre will be doing performances scattered throughout these four days. Dance is hosting two events: Thursday evening and Saturday afternoon. A culminating concert by Quink Volcal Ensemble from the Netherlands will be presented on February 3rd. Mid-Atlantic American College Dance Festival March 12-15, 2008 Goucher College- SBC students and faculty will attend classes and two works will be performed for adjudication: a faculty and a student piece. Over 40 other universities and colleges will attend this festival. *Spring Dance Concert April 13 & 14, 2007 at 8:00 p.m. Friday & Saturday Murchison Lane Auditorium Babcock Fine Arts Center – Clay Taliaferro, visiting artist in residence, will be setting works by Jose Limon on SBC students, which will be performed in the concert. Student choreography will be featured as well.
